1. SingHealth and NHG Hospital Attachments

Two separate hospital attachments are available. They will be held at SingHealth and NHG Hospitals for one and two weeks respectively, and you may choose either one of the two.The details are as follows:

NHG tour: 12-19th July 2008 at National University Hospital, Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Alexandra Hospital, Institute of Mental Health, National Skin Centre and Bukit Batok Polyclinic

These attachments are a great opportunity to experience firsthand Singapore’s healthcare system as well as to find out more about the two largest public healthcare service providers in Singapore. In addition, you will be able to get some experience working in a hospital, shadowing and meeting medical professionals, and have an idea of working life in Singapore before you graduate. It will certainly put what you are learning in university into some perspective.

If you’re interested in participating, do reply to your university reps or email : jean2000sg@gmail.com by 20th April 2008, or as soon as possible, with the following: Name, School, Email address, Choice of attachment (NHG or SingHealth), Choice of department or specialty (if any)

We at SMSL are putting together a great deal on stethoscopes for you! If you’re in your preclinical years and haven’t got a stethoscope, in your clinical years and haven’t got a stethoscope, have a stethoscope and want another, or want a stethoscope just for all the jolly good fun it can bring, here’s the place to look!

We are selling 3M Littmann Classic II S.E. stethoscopes (model 2201, black, 28 inches) - the retail price for these is about S$130, but Kingston Medical Supplies has kindly offered them to us for S$88 apiece. This price is conditional on our ordering a minimum of 30 stethoscopes though, so the more of you reply the merrier! Unfortunately we can only get it in black, but at the very reduced price it’s a small sacrifice. You can view it here:

We’re also able to get the 3M Littmann Cardiology III stethoscope for those of you looking beyond a basic model, for S$235, and this is available in any colour. You can view this here:

http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/!ut/p/kcxml/04_Sj9SPykssy0xPLMnMz0vM0Q9KzYsPDdaP0I8yizeINzQLCtAvyHBUBADZMDyp?PC_7_0_2BS8_nid=GS14QYZ9L3beD77LGQCVJWgl

The stethoscopes will be distributed at the Freshers/Members Gathering which is to be held from 11am–2pm on 29th August (more details on this to follow nearer the date).

If you would like to order a stethoscope do send me (Daphne) an email at dtls87@gmail.com by Monday, 20th August 2007, and we’ll get back to you with more info. Hope to hear from you!

This summer, SMSL is organising two separate hospital attachments in Singapore for you! These will be held at NHG and SingHealth hospitals for 1 week and 2 weeks respectively, and you may choose one of the two. The dates and hospitals for each are:

NHG attachment: 12th - 19th July 2007 (1 week) at National Univeristy Hospital, Institute of Mental Health, Tan Tock Seng Hospital or Alexandra Hospital (depending on specialty)

SingHealth attachment:TBA (2 weeks) at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital, Singapore General Hospital or Changi General Hospital (again, depending on specialty)

These attachments are a great opportunity to do something productive this summer! Get some experience working in a hospital, shadowing and meeting medical professionals, and get an idea of working life in Singapore before you get out there. If you’re interested in participating, do reply to your university reps by 1st June 2007, or as soon as possible, with the following:

Name
School
Email address
Choice of attachment (NHG or SingHealth)
Choice of department or specialty (if any)

Hope to hear from you soon, and thanks for your time!
